Vineyard and Olive Grove History – Sue and Neil Clubb bought the property located on the historic Pipeclay Gold Fields of Mudgee in 1996. The land was originally a run-down cropping and cattle farm that had every piece of machinery that had ever been bought scattered around the site. They then set about cleaning up the place and hand planting 4,000 olive trees and trellises of grape vines with the help from family and friends. The on-site Olive press was imported from Italy where we learnt the art of making and tasting oil which enabled Neil and Sue to be judges at Olive Oil shows in both Australia and Italy.
In December 2016, Haydn and Erika Harrison purchased this property and formed an extended family partnership, which extends to Haydn’s sister Clare and partner Wayne, to jointly run this successful business continues to produce the highest quality of oils with the expertise knowledge handed over to them. Haydn has rich experience in intensive organic garlic farming.
Visitors to our tasting rooms not only see the press, but are shown how to taste olive oils and have the mystery of olive oil explained.
We operate the smallest commercial vineyard in Mudgee, but we focus on quality over quantity. The vineyard has the unique ability to continue producing very generous quantities of grapes that is unique to the location of the property. We have four varieties of red wines grapes (Durif, Merlot, Shiraz and Pinot Gris) which produce distinctive and different styles of wine. The wine is made in the locality of the vineyard by the very esteemed Jacob Stein, from the Robert Stein Winery, just across the lane. The family has been making high quality boutique wines for generations and Jacob was awarded the Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the year in recent years.
